Interview with Miss Singapore World 2009

Watching this video provokes me to believe that the local education system has a long way to go. First of all, judging from the numerous contestants on stage, it really baffles me that not even a single one of them would be more linguistically inclined than the interviewee in mention. That aside, it reflects negatively on how locals conduct their conversations with one another. There are many points to note, just by assessing her speech in the video. First of all, grammatical context is very important in conversations. Next, pronunciation of words also decide how you impress the listener. If one cannot articulate his/her words properly, meanings are lost and the only product in that conversation is a fool being looked upon by millions of people around the world. Credit to the winner for winning the title , nevertheless, having a basic command of English is crucial, especially in local context, where English IS YOUR FIRST LANGUAGE. Another point to mention, by teaching students to articulate themselves, properly and accurately, it also saves the educators from international embarrassment.
